As a graduate student at Indiana University, I had the pleasure of coinciding with one of my intellectual icons, the cognitive scientist-translator-creative nonfiction writer, Douglas Hofstadter. More recently, as I've become increasingly drawn to the music, visual culture, and languages of the Pacific region of Colombia, I've honed in on the work of two artists-photographers-entrepreneurs from Quibdó, Colombia, from whom I draw a great deal of insight and inspiration.
